For peace of mind… make a will
It is important that every individual has a will, no matter how much your estate will be worth at the time of your death. It allows your estate to be administered more easily by your chosen executors and more importantly, ensures that your wishes are carried out.
If you die leaving no will (referred to as ‘Intestate’), it will be harder for your assets to be administered and your assets may even pass to individuals that you would not want to benefit. A will not only states who you wish your assets to pass to, it can include funeral arrangements, guardianship appointments, special requests, etc.
At AW Law, we appreciate how important making a will is but that it is perhaps something you don’t really want to think about while you’re still enjoying life to the full. So we make it as easy as possible, by offering a fast and efficient service at a reasonable fixed-fee cost.
We can draft simple wills, nil-rate band discretionary trust wills and complex wills, if instructions are specific and more unusual or complex. In drafting your will, we can assist you with advice on Inheritance Tax and tax efficient wills.
We also offer:
- A fire-proof safekeeping storage service
- The option of us acting as executor/ trustee in your will - so your loved ones don’t have to deal with the administrative burden
- The “WILL FOR FREE” service in association with the Institute of Cancer Research - ask for details
Is your will up-to-date?
It is important that your will is kept up-to-date, we suggest that your will is reviewed every 5 to 7 years, or when there is a life changing event, e.g. when you get married, divorced or have children.
Often easily overlooked is the fact that a marriage, or civil ceremony revokes your will which means a new will should be drawn up. Following a divorce, you will also need to consider what changes you wish to make.
For small fee, we can also provide codicils, which can amend your will with any small changes you wish to make and prepare ‘a letter of wishes’ to accompany your will.
