When a person dies, somebody has to deal with their estate (money, property and possessions) by collecting in all the money and assets, paying all debts and tax, and distributing what is left to those people entitled to it.
Let AW Law deal with the administration of the estate of a loved one on your behalf. We understand that dealing with a loved one’s affairs can be time consuming, complex and often very stressful. We’ll help take this worry away and deal with the matter in a professional and efficient way.
We offer a simple and straightforward service to our clients. Right from the start, at the initial meeting, we provide you with a Probate booklet which explains without the jargon, the probate procedure and what work we’ll be carrying out. We keep you updated throughout the process.
We normally charge a fee based on the gross value of the estate (the Value Element) and an Hourly Rate (see the Probate Guide and Fees).
If we are not Executors or Joint Executors, we can offer a fixed fee, calculated as a percentage of the estate; The fixed fee is 2% of the gross estate provided that the estate is straightforward (under the nil-rate band which is currently £325,000, meaning no inheritance tax is payable).
You can settle the bill when assets are collected in after grant of probate, this means that at no point will you have to come up with the funds, they will be payable out of the estate.
Our team has experience in implementing the new tax procedures introduced in October 2007, transferring the nil-rate band between spouses. This could save you a potential £130,000.
We aim to deal with the matter as swiftly as possible to ensure that the estate is distributed to all beneficiaries, as quickly as possible.
