The fees we charge
We normally charge a fee based on the gross value of the estate (the Value Element) and an Hourly Rate (see the Probate Guide and Fees).
If we are not Executors or Joint Executors, we can offer a fixed fee, calculated as a percentage of the estate; The fixed fee is 2% of the gross estate provided that the estate is straightforward (under the nil-rate band which is currently £325,000, meaning no inheritance tax is payable).
You can settle the bill when assets are collected in after grant of probate, this means that at no point will you have to come up with the funds, they will be payable out of the estate.
Our team has experience in implementing the new tax procedures introduced in October 2007, transferring the nil-rate band between spouses. This could save you a potential £130,000.
